If you plan intermodal moves, you’ll know where the hard part is. It isn’t the first mile or the last. It’s the middle, with rail, road and sea, several terminals and a chain of carriers and subcontractors. Everyone needs to know the moment something changes.
Road haulage has had decades of software built around it. Intermodal hasn’t, and plenty of planners are still joining the dots by hand.
That’s the gap we want to close, and it’s why we sat down with Corporate Financier for their October edition.
We talked about what it takes to run intermodal operations with certainty, and why no single business has all the answers. Over the past year, Bankside Systems and IXOLUTION have joined Fargo. Bankside brings deep knowledge of how terminals, depots and yards run day to day. IXOLUTION brings years of experience supporting operators across mainland Europe, including specialist liquid and bulk transport.
Together, that means we can support customers through more of the journey, on both sides of the Channel and the North Sea.
As our CEO Darren Palfrey says in the piece: “Customers are looking for software partners who can coordinate across both sides of the Channel or North Sea.”
We’re not finished. We’ll keep growing and keep investing in the intermodal operating system the industry needs. The article gives a glimpse of what that looks like, and where we think intermodal is heading.
